The Oliworo of Iworo in Ijebu North East Local Government, Oba Gabriel
Adebisi Onafuwa has hailed Barrister Biyi Otegbeye, the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a true son of Iworo land. Oba Onafuwa said he had read about Otegbeye but was glad to meet him today.
Otegbeye’s mother hailed from Odopotu, but his grandmother was a native of Iworo. Otegbeye recounted his childhood life in Iworo. He promised to elevate the economic standards of the people, noting that women must be rescued from cutthroat interests they are subjected to.
Otegbeye said, “Government is about the people and to serve their interests, but the reverse is the case in Ogun State today. This has got to change because our people deserve better. We will make life more fulfilling through sustainable and accelerated economic growth. Our women will be rescued from loan sharks. Our roads will be made motorable so as to enhance the agric sector
” I grew up here, and at the tender age, I was given the responsibility of ringing the bell at the Church in Iworo here. I am home, and I feel at home because my grandmother hailed from here”, Otegbeye added.
Earlier, Otegbeye and his team paid homage to Oba Adebayo Okubena, the Elerunwon of Eruwon, where the Monarch prayed for Otegbeye and his Deputy, Alhaji Tunde Awonuga
