Vote Buying Goes Wrong In Ogun As NATA Becomes Evasive After Abiodun Transferred 100 Million Instead of 50 Million

Vote buying has been reportedly taken to a new level by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, an insider has told NigerianEcho. The Governor in an effort to secure his reelection has been on a big spending spree. He has been meeting various groups and giving them Money which observers have described as “vote buying”.

One of such groups that Abiodun has met with is the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA). The group which met with Abiodun yesterday was promised 50 Million Naira by the governor. To show his seriousness in order to secure the support of the group, Abiodun immediately made a transfer of 50 Million while the meeting was going on. The transfer failed at first which made him try a second time. After a while, the two attempts became successful and the account of the group was credited with a sum of 100 Million Naira.

Abiodun later demanded that the excess 50 Million should be returned as he didn’t plan to give them 100 Million Naira but 50 Million. The members became evasive saying the signatories to their account were not in the meeting. A livid Abiodun reportedly shouted at the members to return his money before 10 hours and failure to so will make him take drastic measures to retrieve the money.

An insider told NigerianEcho that the members have resolved to hold on to the money daring Abiodun to do his worst. Abiodun is facing a battle of his political life to win his reelection which comes up on Saturday, March 18. He is contesting against Ladi Adebutu, of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) and Barrister Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Otegbeye, is backed by Ibikunle Amosun (SIA), the former governor and the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District.
