The Police Public Relations officer for the command, Ebere Amaraizu said that suspects were arrested on 30th of April by a team of policemen on patrol along Enugu/Abakiliki Expressway. The gang was said to have Enugu from Ebonyi state.

The gang alleged to have kidnapped a man at Ishielu in Ebonyi state was also armed with locally made pistol  and four cartridges at the time of arrest.

A police patrol team led by Peter Odudo also intercepted a J5 Bus along Ugwuonyeama on Enug-Onitsha Expressway following a tip-off and recovered one locally made pistol, several GSM handsets and SIM. The police also gave the names of the occupant of the J5 Bus as Ejike Nwaokpoku and Friday Nwite.
