Six suspected kidnappers, including a lady have been arrested in by the Enugu state police command. The Police Public Relations officer for the command, Ebere Amaraizu said that suspects were arrested on 30th of April by a team of policemen on patrol along Enugu/Abakiliki Expressway. According to Amaraizu, the team led by Inspector Aye Emina promptly acted on the information regarding the nefarious activities of the gang of kidnappers who were operating in a cab with Registration No XV 337-ENU and fleet No177. The gang was said to have Enugu from Ebonyi state.

Amaraizu gave the names of the suspected kidnappers as Chioma Obi (the only female), Emmanuel Awoke, Gabriel Agumi, Offor Celestine, Sunday Onweh, and one Hyacinth. The gang alleged to have kidnapped a man at Ishielu in Ebonyi state was also armed with locally made pistol  and four cartridges at the time of arrest.

A police patrol team led by Peter Odudo also intercepted a J5 Bus along Ugwuonyeama on Enug-Onitsha Expressway following a tip-off and recovered one locally made pistol, several GSM handsets and SIM. The police also gave the names of the occupant of the J5 Bus as Ejike Nwaokpoku and Friday Nwite. The police is currently investigating the motive of the suspects but there are strong indications that the arrest would provide useful information for unraveling the gang that has been terrorizing motorists along Ugwuonyeama hills on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
