Olaitan Oyerinde to be Buried 10th May, 2012 in Ede, Osun State

Olaitan Oyerinde, the slain Private Secretary to the Governor of Edo state would be buried on Thursday, 10th, May, 2012 in his hometown Ede, Osun state. Oyerinde was gruesomely murdered in the early hours of Friday, 4thMay, 2012 at his home in Benin City by unknown assailants. A notable labour unionist and social activist with impressive track records, Oyerinde was until his death the Private Secretary to Governor Oshiomhole following a leave of absence at the Nigeria Labour Congress where he was the Deputy General Secretary.

 According to information available to NigerianEcho, preparations for the burial may have begun and would be intensified early next week when activists, colleagues and associates of the deceased meet in Lagos. Already, a meeting to be attended by comrades and associates has been fixed for Bamidele Aturu’s office in Lagos. Similar meetings are expected to be held in Benin, Abuja and Osogbo to enable broad consultations and participations in the burial arrangements.
