Sharing is caring!

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) has summoned the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, over alleged inflation of contract for supply of official cars.

NigerianEcho gathered that the summon was in connection with the inflation on the 28 cars (Toyota Avensis) reportedly purchased for the members of House of Assembly as official vehicles at the rate of N6million each by the Speaker.

Adekunbi who is expected to appear before the Commission in Abuja today, monday 10th is to appear alongside the Clerk, Deputy Clerk and some principal officers of the Ogun State House of Assembly over a petition that was written against him.

The letter of invitation we gathered has been has been received by the speaker and other invitees.

The allegation against the Speaker according to the letter of invitation reads “for conferring unfair advantage and inflating the price of 28 Toyota Avensis car bought for the honourable members as official cars to the inflated amount of N6million per Avensis.”

Meanwhile, when contacted, ICPC Media Consultant/National Coordinator, Folu Olamiti, confirmed the invitation extended to the Speaker and other members of the Assembly by ICPC.

In another development, the Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has approved the suspension of the executive and legislative arms of Ijebu East local council. They are to remain on suspension for three months.

As at the time of filing this report, the details of the suspension is still sketchy but NigerianEcho gathers this is not unrelated with the recent crisis that befell the council in which some hoodlums believed to be working for some aggrieved ruling party chieftains in the area stormed the council office and stole the maze.
