The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye has sent a congratulatory message to Senator Tolu Odebiyi (Ogun West) on the conferment of a National Honours Awards.

Odebiyi, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, will on Tuesday, October 11, be conferred with the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) awards, alongside other eminent Nigerians by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

Reacting to the development, Otegbeye described the award to Odebiyi as a “fitting recognition” due to the senator’s sterling service to Nigerian people nationally and particularly in his native Ogun West.

“I am not surprised that my brother, Sen. Odebiyi is being so recognised. He has been a bastion of pride for us in Yewa and Awori lands,” Otegbeye said. “He is as good as it comes when we talk of the best representations our people have had at the National Assembly.”

Describing the awardee as a “chip of the old block”, Otegbeye recollected the superlative skills and bold contributions of his father, Senator Jonathan Odebiyi as the Senate leader of Unity Party of Nigeria in the 2nd Republic.

The gubernatorial hopeful expressed confidence that Ogun State will produce more exemplary ambassadors when the ADC government takes the reins of governance in 2023.
