Five Armed Robbers Die In A Shoot Out With The Police In Ogun; Weapons Recovered.

The Police Anti Crime Team attached to Agbado Division of Ogun State,responding to a distress call,on Saturday 26th July, engaged some armed robbers numbering twelve (12) in a gun battle at Oluke,Okugbolu and Onireke areas of Agbado at about 0620hrs leaving five of the robbers dead while one of them was arrested with their weapons and others fled with bullet wounds.

The armed robbers had launched attack on the people of these areas when a call was made to the Divisional Police Officer in Agbado Division who then put a call to alert his men on routine patrol to raise down to the area where the robbers were caught in the act of robbery. In the process of combing the area,members of the Vigilante Service of Ogun State in the area rendered assistance to the police team.

The name of the suspect arrested,who is a motor boy,is Oladeinde Rasheed,m,26,residing at Ijoko Otta Ogun State. He is from Abeokuta, Ogun State. He’s a strong member of the robbery gang and will help the police to get the fleeing members of the gang.

According to police preliminary investigation,it was gathered that the robbers went to the remote areas on motorcycles with arms and that they had been terrorizing the people of the area for a long time; particularly snatching cars and bikes from people in the area and other parts of Agbado community in Ifo Local Government of Ogun State before meeting their Waterloo.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police recovered various weapons from the gang.

” Items recovered from the robbers include 5 locally made guns,30 live cartridges,12 expended cartridges,3 laptops, jewelries, a cash sum of #85,000,5 unregistered motorcycles, cutlasses and assorted charms.”

He added that the Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye  commended the good people of the area who alerted the police on time, and the police operatives with the Vigilante Men who carried out the successful operation.

” CP Okoye also restated his readiness always to tackle crimes and social vices in Ogun State to provide adequate security for all and sundry in the state and Nigeria at large”, Adejobi added.
