Dapo Abiodun Isn’t Fair To Ogun West District, Despite 65% Contributions To State’s Revenue, Segun Adewale

Sharing is caring!

Omooba Segun Adewale (OSA), the Director of Communications and Strategy for the Campaign Organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, Dr Ladi Adebutu has decried the deplorable state of road infrastructure in the State, particularly, in Ogun West Senatorial District, saying the long neglect has ruined the livelihoods of the citizenry on that corridor.
Adewale who berated the nonchalant approach of the Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration said it is appaling to realise that Ogun West which contributes 65% of the internally generated revenue in the state, is the least developed and least on the agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state.

Speaking with some selected journalists on Saturday at his Ilaro resident, he said:
“I am vexed, disappointed and grossly uncomfortable that Governor Dapo Abiodun would be making reference to my Senatorial District in such a despicable manner and without conscience. What I read in the news on Friday October 28 was very distasteful, our Governor was telling us at Ogun West District to bear with him, this is an insult. We have been completely neglected for the last 12 years of APC government in the State despite the lucrative and productive nature of our people and more importantly our economic value to the state.

“More disheartening is the response of the Commissioner for budget and planing who is from Ilaro Yewa-South Local Government. If an Abiodun government is finding it difficult to have an agreement with his APC government at the center to repair Federal government roads within the state, is it when a PDP government is in power in 2023 that he will have the opportunity? His time is up and he should just prepare his handover note because the people are tired of excuses and rhetoric. Here has been rejected.

“Can you imagine the excuse he’s giving? Ogun West contributes 65% of the internally generated revenue in Ogun state on a monthly basis, yet the axis is the least developed and the least on the agenda of Dapo Abiodun government.

“For those who don’t know, Ogun West Senatorial District has almost 500 foreign and local industries within it and it deserves more development more than anything else, particularly in terms of infrastructural development but what do we get? It has been promises, pledges and excuses for 12 years, this is wickedness, enough is enough. The harrowing experiences of our people are indescribable and can no longer be tolerated, despite the taxes and revenues the government generates from them, this is callous and unjust.”

Omooba Adewale, an award winning marketing communications guru added:
“One of the yardsticks to measure performance of any responsible, responsive or reasonable government is road infrastructure. And everyone will agree with me that this is essential for banishing hunger, alleviating poverty, and improving the quality of human life, wellbeing and livelihoods. This as well has the potentials of transforming subsistence farming into a commercial and dynamic farming system which unlock the potentials embedded in rural areas. A government with human face would cleverly focus on spreading demand for road transport, minimizing congestion and overcrowding; improving reliability and delivering benefits to the wider economy, anything outside this is a complete failure.” Adewale stated
