Sharing is caring!

In a dramatic move, one of the gubernatorial candidates of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ondo State, Dr. Olu Agunloye showed up at the venue of the declaration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Governor of Ondo State as he formally  declared for his re-election. Agunloye with thousands of his supporters, while deflecting to the ruling Labour Party (LP) said he was teaming up with Mimiko to sustain the ongoing development in the state .

However, his deflection has been described by the ACN as a move by a “political harlot”. Agunloye who appeared in the traditional LP’s orange colour at the rally, amidst singing by the party faithfuls said, ” No one can deny that Ondo state is working, no one can deny the fact that Dr. Olusegun AbdulRahman Mimiko has delivered the dividends of democracy in the State. His achievements are evident and we will make sure he returns as the Governor come October 20th. The antics of foreigners will not deter him and we will make sure that doesn’t happen”

While accepting Agunloye and his teeming supporters from the ACN into LP, Mimiko thanked him for identifying with the interest of the mass of Ondo people.  He assured Agunloye and his followers of a place in his team as he moves to consolidate on the gains of his first term.

The defection of Dr. Agunloye is already generating serious debate in the social media. For instance, one Lere olayinka characterises the reaction of ACN to the latest Agunloye’s political move in this manner.

“When  left Labour Party (LP) in the wake of the last year’s general elections, he was hailed by the leaders of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) who are seen as progressives in the south west of the Country. Now that Agunloye has decided to return to his former party, LP, he has been branded a “political harlot” and a politician without principle.”

“One wonders if the  likes of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, (formerly of PDP, ANPP ), Gov Ajimobi (formerly of ANPP), Sen Chris Ngige (formerly of PDP),
Kogi’s Abubakar Audu (formerly of ANPP), Benue’s Sen Akume (formerly of PDP), Edo’s
Tom Ikimi (formerly of PDP), Jide Awe and Chief Falusi (ACN chairman and deputy
chairman respectively in Ekiti, who are both formerly of d PDP) are principled politicians? If Judas Iscariot were to come back to life today, won’t he also become a saint if he joins ACN? ” The man concluded.
