2023 Is A Good Time For Ogun West To Break Its Governorship Jinx ~ Biyi Otegbeye
Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Barrister Olubiyi Otegbeye, has stated that the 2023 elections is the best time ever for Ogun West Senatorial district to produce the governor of the state.
Speaking during his campaign rally at Oja Odan in the Yewa axis of the State, Otegbeye said the people deserve better and that only someone who is not knowledgeable or mischievous would pray to God to delay answers to his prayers when same can be granted now. He said Ogun West deserves to have one of its own elected Governor in 2023.
He stated, “I heard some people are saying we should wait till 2027 before we produce a Governor after waiting for 46 years. Why would anyone pray for a delay before his answers could be answered”?
“The time is now for us to have one of us elected and I am the person that will break that jinx. We always had multiple candidates in the past but now I am the only one from Ogun West. We must sieze this unique opportunity and come out and vote for one of you”.
It will be recalled that supporters of the APC senatorial candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, have stated categorically that 2027 would be the best chance for Ogun West to clinch the elusive seat; a position which Otegbeye and his supporters have contradicted.
But making further clarification on the divisive issue, Otegbeye on Saturday declared that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known as YAYI, is not his enemy and they do no vie for same position in the impending election.
“Myself and YAYI are not enemies. He is contesting to be Senator while I am contesting to be Governor. They are two different things. Those who will vote for YAYI as their Senator will do so just as many will vote for Biyi Otegbeye as their Governor. We must all act as true borns and vote me in. There is no division among us for this election and we must stay united and not work against our respective interests”.
The insurance magnate premised his optimism of achieving an historic feat of breaking the 47year old jinx on being the only candidate from Ogun west for the 2023 gubernatorial elections state and being backed by multiple structures across the state; according to him; this is aside his antecedents, credibility and capacity for the task at hand.
Corroborating Otegbeye, the Onigua of Eggua, Oba Michael Adeleye Dosunmu assured the ADC candidate of his support. Oba Dosunmu bemoaned the inability of Yewa-Awori people to produce the Governor of the State since its creation in 1976.
Dosunmu said, ” It’s unfair for a section of the State to be in perpetual deprivation. This is our own and you shall win and govern well because the truth shall prevail. I will support you on all fronts. I am the second oldest serving Oba in the State after Awujale”.
” Yewa-Awori shall get it this time because it is long overdue. We shall win and we shall win with pride”, Oba Dosunmu concluded.
