One Year Gone: Gov Amosun, Is this the bargain ?
The thrust is that the people of Ogun State are getting wiser on the role of government and their duties as citizenry. Ogun under Amosun in the last one year can best be described as what a friend called “Topsy-turvy Show” of a Man who has good Pre-Election Strategy but lacks a well thought out Strategy to handle the Post-Election period where the real business lies. While one won’t loose sight of the fact that Human being are naturally Insatiable; Yet, facts abound also that so far, promises made by this government have not been carefully kept !
Naturally, every government has less than 28 months to perform and proof to the people that she is really worth their thumbs while the remaining 20 months of a governments tenure (Consciously or Unconsciously) are devoted to Politicking and (or) Politricking of all sort; but in Governor Amosun, the template seems to have changed as we now have the case reversed.
In all fairness, one could point to one or two achievements of this administration in the last 12 months (I.e the ongoing six lanes express in Abeokuta metropolis/APC purchase) but it is sad that the pace at which this government would have moved was slowed by down by her Obsession and desire to erase the legacies of the past administration / unnecessary politicking that ordinarily should be placed on hold till 2014.
The battle for the soul of Action Congress of Nigeria (A.C.N) started as soon as Gov. Amosun was sworn in. He Constituted a lopsided caretaker committee with his A.N.P.P Allys as major members across the local governments. This singular action won for this administration more adversaries than fans even within the fold of the ruling Ogun Action Congress of Nigeria (A.C.N), the opposition on the other hand have continued to build and capitalize on this disparities within Action Congress of Nigeria (A.C.N) to attack and ridicule the Office of the Governor.
It is equally painful that the leadership of this administration never knew upto what she claimed to have known about Ogun State during campaign/electioneering or how else can one explain the statement made by His Excellency during his State of the State Affair where he said “I know it was bad,but I never knew it was this bad”.
Amosun’s claim to be in custody of a holistic panacea to the multi-facet problem of the good people of Ogun state which in turn raised so high the hope of the helpless masses having been through P.D.P for eight years could be the reason why those angry folks stoned His Excellency in Ogun East !
As we set out for another 12 month of this administration’s second year, it is my sincere advise that all attention be devoted to governance while premature politicking is laid to rest until the appropriate time. Because seriously,The Popularity of any people centered government should be more than this at age 1.
