The Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM) wishes to draw the attention of all the political parties vying for the governorship seat in Ondo state in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, of the need to strictly abide by the tenets of democracy in the conduct of the primaries to choose their gubernatorial candidates.

For some time now, the undemocratic practices in the internal affairs of the political parties in choosing their candidates for elections has become a recurring and disturbing development which has led to internal crisis and at times, defection to other parties by aggrieved members.

While one cannot rule out the influence of inducements in deciding the direction in which delegates could be swayed, may we appeal to all legitimate delegates for the parties primaries, to put the long term interest of the long suffering people of Ondo state upper most in their consideration when casting their votes for the gubernatorial aspirant of the party to fly its flag at the election on November 26th, 2016.

Thus, it is in this vein that CPPM wish to admonish all the political parties participating in the Ondo state gubernatorial race to ensure that the selection of candidates via the primaries is conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner that gives little or no room for bad blood and crisis which could snowball into undermining the electoral fortunes of the party at the election proper.

Once again, we congratulate the parties in advance and wish them successful primaries to produce capable candidates whose allegiance and responsibility at all times will be solely to the good people of Ondo state in carrying the party’s flag.

Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

Nelson Ekujumi,

Executive Chairman.
