Okonjo’s Kidnap, FEC endorses State Militias

The National Economic Council (NEC) yesterday gave its nod to the establishment of security outfits in the states to enhance and support the security of lives and property in the country.

The move is seen as a fall out of the high level of insecurity which has bedevilled the country in recent times.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State who disclosed this while briefing State correspondent after the monthly NEC meeting presided over by the Vice President Namadi Sambo said the council has approved the establishment of security outfits across the states and that such security outfits should be equipped with tracking equipment to support their operations.

Amongst other things Fayemi disclosed was discussed at meeting is the deplorable state of federal roads across the country with a pledge by the council that the funds which state governments expended on the roads’ reconstruction and rehabilitation would be refunded.

The governor also said that the council has directed state commissioners of finance to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Finance on the guidelines put in place for borrowing funds.
