Ogun PDP Warns Members Against Actions Capable of further dividing the party
…..Says No one has been Expelled
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has condemned groups within the party for what it called “vexatious usurpation “, saying there is no expulsion in the party. Members loyal to Hon. Ladies Adebutu and those loyal to Chief Jimi Lawal have been at loggerheads over the gubernatorial ticket of the party.
The two groups have taken turns to pronounce suspension and expulsion on each other after a Federal Court had declared illegal the primaries conducted by the party. Lawal and Adebutu both emerged as gubernatorial candidates at parallel congresses which were held in Abeokuta.
At the state executive committee (SEC) meeting held on 2nd November 2022 in Abeokuta; the gales of suspension and expulsion of some members of the party by the two groups within the party was unequivocally condemned.
NigerianEcho learnt that the state Chairman, Chief Samson Bamgbose, led other SEC members to express shock and dismay at the scenario of usurpation of functions of the SEC to disunite the party over unmitigated ambitions particularly at this electioneering period when the unity of members of the party should be of uppermost importance.
According to Raphael Olaosebikan, the
State Secretary of PDP in the State, the SEC members were unanimous in their condemnation of the antics of these members.
“This is to make it clear that the tolerance and accommodation by the current Ogun PDP state exco of actions of some notable members that are outreaching themselves is to avoid disunity and dismemberment of our great party as is unfortunately now being unreasonably propelled. Henceforth, the SEC shall act decisively against these erring members if caution is not adopted by conformity with provisions of the party’s constitution and rule of law”, Olaosebikan said.
