Lawyer charged for defrauding clients N13m

An Abeokuta-based lawyer, Idris Tajudeen Olufemi alleged to have defrauded his clients of N13million has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta.
The accused, operating under Igi-Aruwe Chambers in the Ogun state capital, was arraigned with a two-count charge, of false pretence and an intent to defraud and fraudulently convert the proceeds from the sale of a twenty-two room building belonging to his clients.
According to Police Prosecutor, Banji Sangotokun, the accused sometimes in March 2014, did by false pretence and with intent to defraud the family of Hamzat Oladerin, sold a property valued at N13 million located at number 183 Olufunmilayo bus stop, Ipaja road Agege, Lagos, with the promise to share the proceed to the owners of the property.
Sangotokun added, the accused however, failed to fulfill his promise as he fraudulently converted the proceeds from the sale of the twenty-two rooms to his and deprive the ownership the said money and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383(1),(2)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and thereafter,his Counsel, A.O Ogundero pleaded for his bail, which was subsequently granted by the court.
Magistrate, Olusesan Araba granted him bail with one surety in the sum of N100,000 and adjourned further hearing till the end of the ongoing judicial workers strike.
