Internet Facilities In Institutions Will Boost Lecturers, Students’ Learning Capacities – ASUP Chairman
Mr Yahaya Usman-Baba, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, has said that the provision of internet facilities at institutions would enhance scholarship in the country.
Usman-Baba said this on Monday in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He, however, appealed to the authority of the polytechnic to provide the institution with free internet facilities to boost the teaching and learning capacity of both lecturers and students respectively.
“The importance of internet facilities to the development of any society cannot be over-emphasised, it will boost lecturers’ and students’ learning capacities.
“I and other executive members promise to be just, fair and transparent in the union and the institution’s activities in order to justify the confidence reposed in us,” he said.
According to him, availability of internet facilities on the campus would help the institution’s lecturers, students and other researchers in carrying out research work free of charge.
Usman-Baba expressed the determination of the union to support the present management of the polytechnic to enable it succeed in improving the educational standard of the institution.
He also pleaded with the management to accord the same support to the union.
The branch chairman called on members of the union to face their studies and shun sharp practices that could tarnish their image and that of the institution.
He, however, commended the management of the institution for giving priority to the welfare of its staff and urged them to sustain the tempo. (NAN)
