ASUU Strike: Activists Protest Against Neglect Of Education Sector

The popular Ikorodu road in the Commercial city of Lagos was, on Tuesday,  virtual blocked by protesters who were demanding a quick resolution of the crisis in the education sector. The Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, has been on strike for over 40days. The association isattachment-3702975585 demanding that the Federal Government honour an agreement it had with it in 2009.
The protest that started as early 9am in Yaba at the Nigeria Labour Congress house was peaceful with protesters chanting solidarity songs. It was organized by the Joint Action Front, JAF, alongside  the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP, National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS and other stakeholders in education sector.  The Nigerian Government have been accused by many as treating one of the most important thing in the Country-education with levity. Critics of the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan have said the government prefers spending money on white elephant projects.
