A Socio Political Group  ‘Ogun-West Renaissance Front, ORF, has warned the governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun against attempts to further marginalise and stunt the growth of Ogun West Senatorial district in his planned creation of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The group claims it has credible information that the Governor plans to carve just 7 LCDAs out of the existing five local governments areas in the senatorial district.

In a statement jointly signed by its President, Hon. Yemi Akinola and Secretary, Kolawole Ajayi, the group claimed that the government plans to carve the 7 LCDAs in this manner ” Ado-Odo/Ota and Yewa North LGs will produce 2 LCDAs each while Yewa -South,Ipokia and Imeko-Afon LGs would each produce one LCDAs making 7 in all for Ogun west”

According to the ORF, if the plan sails through, Ogun West will have just 12 council areas out of the 52 that would be in the state.

The group lamented that the plot is unjust and a barbaric act which will further marginalise the people of the senatorial district.

To the group, the planned move betrays the governors ungratefulness for the massive support he received from the district during the 2015 gubernatorial elections.

The group recalls that despite the presence of two eminent Yewa-Awori sons in the race, Governor Amosun who hails from Ogun Central, scored over 40 percent of votes cast in all the five local governments in Ogun West.

To ORF, “such scenario will be most illegal, unjust and illogical as Ogun west remains the largest contributor to the soaring IGR of the state and is only  second behind Ogun central in terms of population and landmass.

“We are not going sit idle and allow such injustice to happen to our area and are therefore determined to fight this latest injustice to a standstill.

“The least we expect out of the 32 planned LCDAs is 10 because we believe that if three equal partners are to share 32 things, each of them should go away with 10.

” That is the irreducible minimum we expect from this latest arraignment nothing less would be acceptable to us”,the statement noted.

ORG warned the governor not to test its resolve and readiness to deploy all legitimate tools to fight for the right of the people of Ogun West and force the hands of Governor Amosun to do the correct thing in this matter of LCDA creation.
