Group Canvasses For Citizens’ Support As Sanwo-Olu Signs 2024 Appropriation Bill
A foremost Civil Society Organisation,The Campaign For Dignity in Governance (CDG) has enjoined the people to continue giving Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos state, the needed support to enable him continue the good work he is doing.
This call was made by the Convener of CDG, Razaq Olokoba while speaking with NigerianEcho. Babajide Sanwo-Olu who signed the N2.2 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill passed by the state’s House of Assembly into law had earlier assured Lagosians of effective implementation of the budget.
The budget estimate for the 2024 fiscal year tagged ‘Budget of Renewal’ was presented to the Lagos State House of Assembly for consideration on December 13, 2023. Sanwo-Olu at the signing ceremony noted that the state House of Assembly passed the budget last week after due consideration and subsequently transmitted it to him for his assent.
Olokoba said,
“Appropriation bill which is an economic tool to commence spending will further engender dividends of democracy to the people of Lagos state.
“The good work must continue and that’s why we are calling for the support of the good people of Lagos State”.
Olokoba added that the people should be fully involved by monitoring the budget performance and implementation.
The budget of N2.267 trillion comprises N1.315 trillion for capital expenditure and N952.430 billion for recurrent expenditure (58:42).
Olokoba said he was optimistic that Sanwo-Olu would work assiduously to ensure the completion of ongoing projects and ensure the effective take off of new ones.
