Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said Nigeria needs rapid and serious change in all aspects to return back to her Glory days.

Amosun said this when opening a three-day 2014 National Women Conference tagged, ‘Embracing and Managing Change’, organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, in Lagos State on Monday.

Amosun said while giving the lecture: “Change is the only constant thing in life and our ability to embrace it is the only barometer by which true success and progress would be measured. It is human nature to remain with the status quo as it is commonly said that you don’t fix what is not broken.

“In today’s Nigeria, we cannot wait until things get physically broken before we start to fix them, considering where all of us as a nation have found ourselves in the areas of security, public health and social justice. The Boko Haram insurgency is a good example in this direction.”

Amosun also charged public officials to be committed to service, urging them to “regularly updating their knowledge and skills, continuous self evaluation and be interested in being life-long learners to remain relevant and be at our best in giving the best to the people.”

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who was also present at the event, commended the organisation for their achievements and assured them of the state government’s commitment to protecting the rights of women and children, and helping the female in the state.

Also present at the event were Dame Abimbola Fashola, chairman of COWLSO; Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; Oyo State first lady, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.
