Fashola sacks over 1,500 striking Doctors!
The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on Monday carried out his threat of relieving the striking Doctors of their duties. The sack letters were handed over to the Doctors today and many of them were surprised at the turn of event.
The Doctors have been on strike to demand for better working conditions, reduction in tax as well as Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS). One of the doctors who spoke with NigerianEcho wondered why the government of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, which claimed to be pro-people be sacking medical workers on account of demanding for their right.
The State government did not just come up with the idea of sack today as it had hinted of its desire to do away with the striking Doctors sighting irreconcilable differences. Many Doctors have been recruited in the last one month to take over from the sacked ones. Over 1,500 Doctors were sacked today.
