Fashola Bows To Pressure Recalls Sacked Doctors

Sharing is caring!

In what appeared like going back on his words, the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, has agreed to recall the 788 doctors that were sacked last week.  In a peace brokered by the National leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor was reportedly prevailed upon by his leader to recall the doctors in the interest of the people.

After several hours of meeting with Tinubu, the aggrieved doctors agreed to resume negotiation on the condition that they were reinstated. Tinubu who assured the doctors of the security of their jobs later met with the Governor who agreed to recall the doctors.

The doctors had gone on strike to demand for better working conditions when the Governor announced that they have all been sacked. Efforts by the National Assembly committee on health as well as the Nigeria Medical Association at resolving the matter didn’t yield any result as both parties remained unyielding.

In what the doctors described as fraud, the Lagos State Government through its Commissioner for health Dr. Jide Idris, yesterday announced the recall  of 34 doctors who according to him showed some remorse. The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers (NUPENG) as well as the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) have declared warning strike in solidarity with the sacked doctors.

It will be a right step if the sacked Doctors are being recalled. But lets come to think of it, how on earth can somebody be so power intoxicated by sacking a large number of Medical bodies all in the name of being in authority.I think by now alot would have been learnt by both parties, when two Elephant fights the Grass suffers.

this is not a matter of using authority, the question is should doctors go on strike?their job is suppose to show mercy to sick ones.have u tried taking a patients to hospital before then u will have a change of heart towards there plight.u will see their unwillingness to treat patients without money.there first word is u ve to make a deposits of an amount b4 treatment could commence without thinking of the patient conditions.
