EFCC arrests Ohakim over Charges of Money Laundering and Corruption

The former Governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, was on Thursday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  over charges of money laundering, corruption, and bribery in his administration.

According to reports, Ohakim, who was governor from 2007 to 2011, was investigated for claims that he accessed state funds through his position.

The commission had previously arrested his former Commissioners, who provided statements which lead to the arrest of Ohakim.

Ohakim will now remain in detention while the EFCC continues investigations and interrogation.
