EDO NURTW Says Oshiomhole Has Failed Workers As Union Declares Support For PDP Candidate
The bid of Governor Adams Oshiomhole to return as Governor elect on July 14 suffered a major set back today as the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Edo chapter declared their supports for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. At the rally organised by the Union today in Benin, the State Chairman of NURTW, Mr. Saturday Oamen expressed the support of the members for Maj. Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (Rtd).
He said they have decided to support the candidature of Airhiavbere because Oshiomhole has not given a good account of himself. He said “we are happy today to come back to our base. The governor has failed Edo workers and we are not exempted. A government that has failed to address the welfare of the people does not deserve continuity, and that is the reason we have adopted the PDP governorship candidate for the election.”
Oamen said their members and wives have lost their jobs to the unbearable tax regime of Governor Oshiomhole. He said such anti-people Governor didn’t deserve a second term.
Airhiavbere who was accompanied to the rally by his wife, Yetunde; former Minister of Defense, Gen. Godwin Abbey and other dignitaries of the party said he would turn the State around if voted into office. He added that he would partner with the Union to move the State forward.
