Drama In Ogun As Amosun Orders Assembly Member Abducted
The Minority Leader of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Job Akintan representing Ketu state constituency was forcefully abducted in a commando manner by gunmen at the legislative quarters Monday evening amidst sporadic shooting. According to an eye witness, the gun men who came in their multitude stormed the official residence of Akintan who was sleeping at the time before he was taken away.
Investigations by NigerianEcho revealed that he was abducted on the order of the Governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. The reason for his abduction, investigation revealed was his refusal to head the call of the Governor. The Governor was reported to have called his phones severally but he didn’t respond. He has refused to meet the Governor or any of his aides.
Hon. Akintan was taken to the Government House to meet with Governor. The man who later returned to his official apartment at the Legislative quarters kept quiet and didn’t speak with anybody but went straight to his room.
Opposition members in the House of Assembly led by Akintan, on Friday shunned a meeting convened by Governor Ibikunle Amosun in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
It would be recalled that Akintan who is the Minority Leader; the PDP Whip, Olusola Sonuga; PPN Whip, John Obafemi;Babatunde Edunjobi (Yewa South);Abiodun Akovoyon (Ipokia Idiroko); Salmon Adeleke (Imeko/Afon;Bowale Solaja (Ijebu NorthI); Joseph Adegbesan (Ijebu North II); and Adeyemi Harrison (Ogun Waterside), threatened a showdown with the Governor and Ogun State Independent Electoral Committee (OGSIEC) on the recently concluded Local Government elections. The members who were elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) claimed the election was characterised by fraudulent practises, violence and mass rigging and would be challenged at the court of law.
The meeting earlier called by the Governor was to persuade the aggrieved members to sheath their swords.
