David Mark Reacts to APC’s Claims of 2015 Election Postponement, Calls Allegation “Blatant Lie”
Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Sunday warned the All Progressive Congress (APC) to stop spreading “false news” of an alleged plan to postpone the 2015 general election.
Mark was reacting to a statement by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who claimed that the President of the Senate had called for the postponement of the 2015 election. He called the accusation a “blatant lie” and a disservice to Nigerians.
In a statement released by Kola Ologbondiyan, the Special adviser on Media & Publicity to the President of the Senate, Mark said: “unfortunately, among the arrays of national newspapers and reporters covering the Senate, only the Daily Trust reporter, Hassan A. Turaki misrepresented me and this has been further embellished by APC’s Alhaji Lai. Mohammed.
“I do not need the misinterpretation of the Daily Trust or the embellishment of Alhaji Lai Mohammed to give myself expression on any position that I hold. I did not call for election postponement.
The 2015 general election is of importance not just to the Daily Trust and Alhaji Lai Mohammed but to every Nigerian and all true lovers of democracy.”
