Coach looks Forward to Serena Williams doing Better Next Season
Coach of World Tennis Champion, Serena Williams, Patrick Mouratoglou has said the world number one can do even better next year after she won her fourth WTA Championship and 11th title of the season on Sunday.
“We’ve spoken about 2014 already with goals to do better than this year because I think it is possible,” Mouratoglou said, “If we keep this mentality I don’t see any reason why she would slow down.”
“She loves playing tennis, she loves winning, she wants to stay number one, she wants to keep on winning – and she wants to be better.”
“She has 100 per cent of her physical abilities today, which counts for a lot,” Mouratoglou says of Williams who is having the most successful season ever in her career.
Williams came from behind to beat Li Na in three sets in Istanbul and improve her 2013 record to 78 wins with only four defeats.
She has now won 20 more matches this season than she has ever done in any season.
The 32-year-old has set a record by winning 25 sets by a 6-0 margin and has become the first woman to win more than $10m (£6.19m) prize money in a single season.
The 17-time Grand Slam winner has previously said she will love to play till she is 40 years old, and break Steffi Graf’s record of 22 Grand Slams. If Williams can win 8 more grand slams however,she will break the all-time record of 24 Grand Slams won by a female and owned by Magaret Court.
