APC Reps Members Walk out of Plenary Session over Refusal to Address Seizure of Private Jet in South Africa
House of Representatives members belonging to the All Progressives Congress, APC, stormed out of the plenary session on Tuesday as the House Of Representatives rejected a motion to investigate the seizure of a private jet in South Africa, filled with 9.3 million dollars reportedly meant to buy arms for the Nigerian Government.
Attempts to debate the motion failed after the presiding Deputy Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, went in favour of the majority, who opposed the debate.
APC members in the house walked out after the debate as the lawmakers strongly believe the Federal Government needs to give an account of the diverted funds.
A week ago, South African authorities dismissed the Nigerian Government’s explanation about the purpose of the seized funds which was seized from two Nigerians and an Israeli for flawed discrepancies.
The Federal Government had submitted relevant data and transaction details to the South African authorities, insisting that the seized funds were not laundered or smuggled for any covert reasons. The private jet belongs to the President of Christian Association of Nigerian, CAN, Rev. Ayo Oritsejafor. As a result of the embarrassing situation, a major part of CAN, the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria have denounced their membership of the Christian Organization.
