Amosun’s Reconcilliation Move: The untold story of 2015 endorsement
“We have all resolved to bury our individual differences in the interest of Egba’s unity and progress. The kings unanimously agreed to sink all their differences and henceforth work together in harmony in the interest of Egbaland.” That was the Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo speaking in a Communiqué, signed by Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, Gbagura of Agura, Oba Halidu Laloko and Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega Dosumu to put an end to the age-long rivalry among the four foremost traditional rulers in Egbaland.
However, NigerianEcho’s investigation revealed that the brief ceremony held at the Oke-Igbehin, Abeokuta Government
House on Saturday, was far from being a reconciliation gathering alone. Instead, it turned out to be an avenue to solicit support for the incumbent governor ahead of the 2015 general election.
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, while speaking at the gathering which had in attendance prominent sons of Egbaland which includes former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Former Head of Interim Government, Chief Earnest Sonekan, Deputy Governor (Operation) of Central Bank, Mr. Tunde Lemo, Chief Tunde Abudu, a prominent Industrialist, and renowned medical practitioner and Bagbimo of Egbaland, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, said there is a need for all Egba indigenes to come together and speak with one voice and ensure that an Egba man is returned as Governor in 2015 to further the infrastructure development currently on-going in Ogun Central.
Amosun, who also doubled as the convener of the meeting emphasised Unity among the four monarchs and promised them of his assured humility saying he would ensure infrastructural development of Egbaland top his list of priority through out his tenure
