AMOSUN CHARGES PILGRIMS TO SUSTAIN ENVIABLE POSITION
Pilgrims from Ogun State to the 2013 Hajj have been charged to sustain the enviable position it has occupied over the years by distinguishing themselves among their peers while on the Holy Pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who gave this charge while addressing the first batch of five hundred pilgrim out of the 1,212from the State in Abeokuta, said that the accolades its delegates have enjoyed over the years has been a motivating factor for himself as a person, even from his Northern counterparts.
Governor Amosun said that as humble believers in the tenets of the Islamic religion, they must always be guided by their belief by ensuring they fulfill all the prerequisites rights and obligations expected during the exercise.
Ogun State indigenes have always been good example among its peers most especially when it comes to issues bothering on Hajj exercise, and for the past three years, we have been receiving commendations and accolades on a yearly basis even from our counterpart in the Northern parts of the country. I urge you to maintain this enviable “Ogun standard” as good ambassadors from our great State. We are known for doing positive things”, he noted.
The Governor urged the pilgrims to continuously pray for the success of the present administration and the country in general, wishing them successful completion of all rights during Hajj exercise.
Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf, noted that adequate welfare packages awaits all pilgrims from the State during this year’s exercise, adding that all flights will now be directly connected to the City of Medina instead of Jeddah in the Saudi Arabia.
He also charged them to shun all acts that could tarnish their image, as all necessary arrangements have been concluded at ensuring it surpasses all achievements in all previous Hajj exercises.
