Adamawa impeachment panel begins sitting

Hopes that the impasse between the Adamawa State House of Assembly and the state Governor Murtala Nyako may not lead to the impeachment of the governor and his deputy, Bala Ngilari, deemed on Friday.

This followed the commencement of sitting of the committee set up by the state Acting Chief Judge, Justice Ambrose Mammadu, to investigate allegation of gross misconduct against Nyako and Ngilari.

The recommendations of the panel will determine the fate of the governor and his deputy.

The embattled governor had, on Thursday, inaugurated administrators for 36 development areas, four permanent secretaries and a special adviser as one of the steps to find a political solution to the crisis in the state and save Nyako’s job.
