2027 GUBER: OGUN WEST APC LEADERS APPLAUDS OGUN CENTRAL LEADERSHIP FOR CLOSING RANKS BEHIND YAYI
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun West Senatorial District have commended the apex leadership of the party in Ifo Local Government Area for what they described as a swift intervention that dispelled rumours surrounding the alleged withdrawal of support by elder statesman, Chief Joju Fadairo, for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The APC leaders said the clarification had helped to reinforce confidence in the unity of the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
The commendation followed a meeting held at the residence of the Chairman of the Ogun West APC Apex Leadership, Chief Mufutau Ajibola, which was attended by members of the Governor’s Advisory Council from the district, including Chief Olu Agemo, Chief (Mrs.) Matilda Iyabode Apampa, Chief Bisiriyu Popoola, Alhaja Salimot Makanjuola-Badru and Chief Lai Taiwo.
Speaking on behalf of the group in a statement issued after the meeting, APC chieftain and member of the Ogun West Apex Leadership, Hon. Kayode Oladele, described the response of the Ifo APC leadership as a strategic move that promptly addressed what he called misinformation regarding Fadairo’s political position.
Oladele said, “It is heartwarming to note that elder statesman, Chief Joju Fadairo, remains a dependable political leader in Ogun State who is firmly committed to the APC and the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
“The reports circulating on social media alleging that he had withdrawn his support for Yayi and defected from the APC were false and appeared to be a desperate attempt by elements in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to gain political relevance.
“We commend the swift and dexterous intervention of our leaders in Ogun Central Senatorial District and Ifo Local Government Area for promptly addressing the situation and setting the record straight.”
Oladele further expressed confidence that support for Adeola’s governorship ambition was growing across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“From Ogun West to Ogun Central and Ogun East, support for Yayi’s 2027 governorship aspiration continues to gain momentum. No amount of misinformation or distraction can derail the aspirations of our people,” he stated.
The Ogun West APC leaders also appealed to party members and supporters across the state to remain united and focused on securing victory for the party in the 2027 governorship election.
“We urge our members across Ogun West, Ogun Central and Ogun East not to be distracted by rumours and politically motivated misinformation. This is a time for unity, reconciliation and renewed commitment to the ideals of our great party,” Oladele said.
Oladele further disclosed that the Ogun West APC Apex Leadership had resolved to embark on a solidarity and appreciation visit to its counterparts in Ogun Central Senatorial District and Ifo Local Government Area. He said the visit would serve as a mark of gratitude for their prompt intervention in clarifying issues surrounding the recent controversy and for their unwavering commitment to the APC.
According to him, the Ogun West leaders consider it imperative to formally appreciate the Ogun Central and Ifo APC leadership for standing firmly behind the party’s governorship candidate and Ogun West Senator, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), and for demonstrating exemplary leadership in safeguarding the unity and stability of the party in Ogun State.
The controversy followed reports alleging that Fadairo had withdrawn his support for Adeola and aligned with the governorship ambition of Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Hon. Ladi Adebutu.
However, Fadairo subsequently denied the reports, describing them as false and reaffirming his commitment to the APC and support for Adeola’s governorship bid.
The Ogun West leaders said the development had further strengthened confidence in Adeola’s governorship project and reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support for the APC ahead of the 2027 election.
They expressed optimism that the growing support for Adeola across Ogun State, coupled with party unity, would translate into electoral success in the February 2027 governorship poll.
The leaders urged party faithful to remain steadfast, continue engaging with the electorate and work collectively towards consolidating the APC’s strength across the state, expressing confidence that the party would emerge stronger, more united and better positioned for victory as preparations for the 2027 governorship election gather momentum.
