A New Democratic Movement Emerges in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency
Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo & Odigbo Federal Constituency, Ondo State — Hon. Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi has declared that a new grassroots democratic movement is emerging across Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency, driven by party members and citizens committed to strengthening democratic participation and upholding the integrity of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking ahead of a major engagement with supporters and stakeholders, Hon. Simi described the ongoing developments surrounding the APC House of Representatives primary as evidence of a growing democratic consciousness across the constituency, one rooted in fairness, transparency, and the rule of process.
According to polling unit reports collated by agents across the constituency, Hon. Simi recorded substantial support across the three local governments, including strong performances in multiple wards within Odigbo Local Government Area such as Agbabu, Ago-Alaye, Ajue, Araromi Obu, Ebijaw, Koseru, Odigbo, Ore I, and Ore II.Hon. Simi emphasised that the movement remains peaceful, democratic, lawful, and people-driven.”
This is bigger than one aspirant or one election. What is unfolding across Ile-Oluji, Oke-Igbo, and Odigbo is a democratic reckoning, a moment where citizens are insisting that process matters, that integrity matters, and that every lawful vote must be treated with the seriousness it deserves,” she stated.She commended elders, women, youths, and grassroot party faithfuls who participated peacefully in the primary process despite the tensions and pressures associated with competitive politics.
“Democracy is not measured by the outcome that suits one party; it is measured by the fairness of the process that produces that outcome. Every participant in this primary exercised a constitutional right. That right must be honoured.
“Hon. Simi called on the national leadership of the APC, relevant electoral stakeholders, and security agencies to ensure that all lawful votes and polling unit outcomes are treated with full transparency and integrity.
“The credibility of any democratic process rests on the confidence of the people. Where the process is seen to be manipulated or outcomes predetermined, the damage extends far beyond one constituency; it erodes trust in democratic institutions themselves. Every lawful vote must count.”
She further noted that the growing youth and women-led participation recorded across the constituency reflects a deepening civic commitment among Nigerians who believe that constructive engagement, not apathy or exclusion, is the path to better governance.”
Democracy grows stronger when citizens participate without fear. Politics must create room for conviction, ideas, service, and inclusion, not intimidation. What we have seen across this constituency is proof that when the process is credible, the people will show up.”
