194 doctors punished for medical errors

RIYADH: The forensic board in Riyadh has issued orders against 194 people who committed medical mistakes last year. 

Among them are 165 Saudi doctors and 29 non-Saudi doctors, according to an online newspaper.

Among those who have been punished for medical mistakes are 43 doctors with doctoral degrees, 26 with master’s degrees and 15 are medical graduates.

The forensic board has said that 1,094 meetings were held last year during which 185 decisions were taken. 

It said that decisions were taken against 69 people working in the Ministry of Health, 22 working in the military sector, two in universities and 76 doctors in the private sectors.

The board looks into professional mistakes in health care which results in deaths, disabilities and lack of benefit of the treatment.‎(Arab News)
