Youth Organisation Lauds Sanwo-Olu On Sustainable Transportation
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been lauded for his administration’s huge investment in the transportation sector. Auwa Magaji, the Secretary General of The Youth Bureau (TYB), a Lagos based forum told www.nigerianecho.com.ng that living in Lagos has become easier and thanks to the governor.
TYB’s commendation is coming in the wake of Sanwo-Olu’s meeting with the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, during an official visit to the Green Room at the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) terminal.
The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Lagos State and the French government, particularly in the areas of sustainable transportation, climate resilience, urban infrastructure, and technology-driven development.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation for France’s ongoing interest and support in the development of Lagos, especially in the area of water transportation and clean energy. He highlighted the significance of the meeting location — LASWA’s Green Room — as a symbol of Lagos’ commitment to sustainable and multimodal transportation solutions.
“We are delighted to welcome Minister Barrot and his delegation to Lagos. This visit not only reinforces our growing relationship with France but also opens new channels for collaboration in critical sectors that matter to the future of our state — transportation, innovation, climate action, and infrastructure development,” the Governor said.
The French Minister commended the state government’s strides in improving urban mobility and environmental sustainability. He noted that Lagos, as a megacity, holds significant potential for deeper French partnership in innovation, smart city development, and economic cooperation.
Mr. Barrot’s visit underscores France’s broader commitment to fostering partnerships that drive mutual growth and shared innovation between French institutions and African cities.
Both parties agreed to explore further opportunities for collaboration, with follow-up engagements expected in the coming months. The visit concluded with a tour of LASWA facilities and a demonstration of Lagos’ growing investment in water transport infrastructure
