We’ll follow due process to extradite Kashamu — NDLEA

Nigeria anti-narcotic agency, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) has promised to follow due process in the extradition of US wanted senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu.
The agency stated this on Friday in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Ofoyeju Mitchell. It also stated that it never planned to abduct the Ogun East Senator-elect, wanted by the United States for alleged drug related offences.
The statement reads: “The mission of the NDLEA is not and has never been to abduct him, but to engage the extradition process.
“The Agency is taking necessary steps to ensure that Mr. Kashamu will be available to stand trial on extradition charges as required by law.
“To this end, the NDLEA has a provisional warrant of arrest on him as well as a formal request for his extradition. The honourable thing for him to do is to submit to the due process of the law as pledged”.
The agency who invaded the senator-elect residence and laid siege last weekend, only withdrew from there to obey court order said in the statement; “The Agency withdrew from his house when it officially received a copy of the order from the court on Thursday May 28, 2015”.
It further stated; “Kashamu’s attorney also signed an undertaking to produce him in court for hearing.
“The NDLEA wishes to reiterate that it would comply with all court orders and not forcefully abduct and take him to the United States for trial.
“It is pertinent to state that the court did not prevent the Agency from embarking on extradition process against Mr. Kashamu”.
