Weekly Police Report from some Commands as at Monday 9th June, 2014.

RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (EDO STATE): On 02.06.2014 at about 1:00PM, Police received distress call that a group of men driving in a Nissan Vanette bus reg. no. EDO XB 209 AKA were shooting sporadically at Ikhueniro community. Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where ten (10) male suspects were arrested and one locally-made pistol and four live cartridges recovered from them. State CID, Benin is investigating.
RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (ANAMBRA STATE): On 02.06.2014 at about 6:30PM, Mobile Policemen (MOPOL) on stop and search operation along the old Enugu/Onitsha road intercepted a commercial vehicle (reg no. withheld) and upon a search two (2) locally-made pistols and four (4) live cartridges neatly concealed in a biscuit carton were recovered. Two male passengers who boarded the vehicle with the cartoons were arrested and taken into custody. State CID Awka is investigating.
RECOVERY OF WEAPONS (RIVERS STATE): On 03.06.2014 at about 10:00PM, upon a distress call that sea pirates on board one W19 speed boat had robbed a boat on Bonny waterway, Marine Police patrol boats were immediately dispatched to the scene were the hoodlums were intercepted and a gun battle ensued. Police superior fire power led the pirates fall overboard abandoning their boat, Two (2) AK-47 rifles and double magazine containing fifty-nine (59) and fifty-one (51) rounds of live ammunition were recovered. State CID Port-Harcourt is investigating.
RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (EDO STATE): On 05.06.2014 at about 12:30PM, upon information, Police operatives raided a criminal hideout at no. 19 Omorogie Street Benin City where four one female and four male suspects were arrested. One (1) cut-to-size barrel gun, one (1) battle axe, two (2) live cartridges, three (3) wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp and the sum of N3,250 recovered from the suspects. State CID Benin City is investigating.
RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM (BENUE STATE): On 03.06.2014 at about 10:00PM, Police patrol team along Makurdi-Aliade road intercepted a Toyota Camry car (reg no withheld), the driver and some other occupants immediately jumped down and fled into the bush abandoning the vehicle. One male person left behind was discovered to be a Lecturer at Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi who was earlier kidnapped at his residence on the same date at about 8:30PM by the fleeing hoodlums. The victim was safely rescued and reunited with his family. Efforts to apprehend the suspects are being intensified. State CID #Makurdi is investigating.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF VEHICLE (ANAMBRA STATE): On 03.06.2014 at about 7:00PM upon on a tip-off, Police SARS operatives raided a criminal hideout where one male suspect was arrested with bullet wound. Upon interrogation, the suspect led Police to Uli where one Toyota Highlander Jeep with reg. no. TA -893- AAA earlier snatched at gun point from the owner in Onitsha was recovered. State CID Awka is investigating.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (DELTA STATE): On 03.06.2014 Police patrol team acting on a distress call of robbery attack on a supermarket at Abraka pursued and arrested the three (3) suspected armed robbers and recovered two (2) cut-to-size guns from the hoodlums. State CID #Asaba is investigating.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (BENUE STATE): On 05.06.2014 at about 8:00PM, Police SARS operatives investigating a case of robbery arrested three (3) male suspects at Gboko and recovered one (1) AK-47 rifle with fifty-eight (58) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two (2) double barrel guns, forty-three (43) live cartridges, three (3) Bajaj motorcycles and some mobile phones belonging to their victims. State CID Makurdi is investigating.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (IMO STATE): On 08.06.2014 at about 7:20PM, Police patrol team around Catholic Junction Owerri were attracted to the sounds of gun shots and immediately moved to the scene where a three-man robbery gang that had just shot/rob a motorcyclist were intercepted. Police team engaged the gang in a shootout, two of the hoodlums were fatally injured and two (2) AK-47 rifles were recovered from the suspects. The third suspect fled the scene with bullet wounds. The injured victim of the robbery was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by Doctors on arrival, State CID, Owerri is investigating.
FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT (RIVERS STATE): On 05.06.2014 at about 10:00PM, Police Patrol team at Rumuodomaya, Port-Harcourt intercepted one male suspect while robbing a female car owner of a Honda car (reg. no. withheld). The victim was safely rescued and the suspect arrested with one (1) locally-made Pistol and a live cartridge recovered from him at the scene. State CID Port-Harcourt is investigating.
FOILED ROBBERY/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (BENUE STATE): On 08.06.2014 Police SARS operatives along Ugbokolo/Epe/Otukpo road in Okpokwu LGA intercepted a three-man robbery gang while attempting to rob a luxurious bus (reg no. withheld). All suspects arrested and one locally-made pistol recovered from them, State CID Makurdi is investigating.
ARREST OF CATTLE RUSTLERS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON AND CATTLE (ZAMFARA STATE): On 03.06.2014 at about 5:00PM, Mobile Policemen (MOPOL) stationed at Dansadau, received information that some cattle rustlers were moving with suspected stolen cattle along Madada Forest. The Police team immediately moved into the area where one of the hoodlums was arrested with a locally-made weapon while other gang members fled the scene. Eighty (80) cattle, One hundred (100) sheep and three (3) camels were recovered from the gang. Efforts to apprehend other gang members are being intensified, State CID #Gusau is investigating.
ARREST OF CATTLE RUSTLERS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (ZAMFARA STATE): On 08.06.2014 at about 1:30PM, Police received distress call that a gang of Cattle rustlers have attacked Dukki Village, Maru. Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where the hoodlums were engaged, two of the armed suspects were fatally injured in a shootout while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds. Two (2) AK-47 rifles with four (4) magazines containing fifty-two (52) rounds of ammunition each, and four (4) Camels were recovered. Corpses were taken to FMC Gusau mortuary for autopsy; efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects. State CID is investigating.
