We are Not Part of Lagos State – Community leader

Oba Adenuga Okuniyi, the Lenuwa of Ode ~ Omi in Ogun waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State has debunked the claim in some quarters that Ode~Omi Community is planning to go with Lagos State.

 In a press statement issued by the Press Officer, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,   Oba Okuniyi while denying the alleged plan to go with Lagos state in an interview in Abeokuta, said that Ode-Omi community in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State,remains part and parcel of the State.

The monarch stated that there were no justification whatsoever under any guise for the people of Ode-Omi to nurse such plan to go with Lagos State.

 He pointed out that besides the fact that, Ode-Omi was geographically situated within Ogun State land boundary , the community has strong historical lineage with Ijebu and that Awujale of Ijebuland is the prescribed Authority and Paramount Ruler of the community.

He however said that there were reports which suggest otherwise. He added that such notion was that of some misguided people in the Community whose erroneous impression have been misinterpreted as the views of the entire community.

He commended the efforts of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in his rebuilding mission across the State saying that the present administration should extend the dividend of democracy to Ode-Omi through the provision of roads, electricity among others that would further promote the living standard of the people at the grassroots.
