Warri Wolves Reveal Big Preparations for CAF Confederation Cup
Nigeria’s Warri Wolves have revealed they are planning a big home win against Tunisian club CA Bizertin in a CAF Confederation Cup second round first leg tie on Sunday.
Wolves need a convincing win over the Tunisians to have a good chance of advancing to the playoffs of the competition.
“We have to double our efforts to see that we get a favourable result and this is the first leg so we need to score goals,” said coach Paul Aigbogun yesterday. “The available information at our disposal confirmed that they are good and are currently doing well in their league but we are going to do our best.”
Wolves forward, Joshua Obaje, also announced he is looking forward to a resounding victory: “We are taking this game very seriously because we know the importance of the game to our ambition. We will go all out for a convincing win since this is the first leg and we are playing home, a good win here will put us in a comfortable position for the return leg.”
Warri Wolves beat Union Douala of Cameroun 4-3 on aggregate to reach this stage, while CA Bizertin defeated Desportivo Huila (Angola) 3-0 on aggregate after winning both home and away.
The Nigerian club will be however be without star forward Etebo Oghenekaro and striker Gbolahan Salami. Oghenekaro is away at Italian Serie A club Udinese for trials while Salami is also out of this clash as he was not registered for the competition.
“Gbolahan (Salami) won’t play against CA Bizertin, this is because he was not registered for the CAF Confederation Cup. He joined us after registration for the competition has been done. We will register him when there is an opening,” Warri Wolves Media Officer, Moses Etu said.
Salami is yet to debut for Warri Wolves since his move from relegated Shooting Stars.
