War Against Robbery: Police arrest 3 during raid
The Ogun State Police Command has again arrested 3 additional suspected armed robbers during a join raid operation by the Police and Vigilante Service of Ogun State at Gbaga Eriyo area of Ogijo in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State on 14th March by 2345hrs.
The command has been conscious of the influx of some hoodlums and criminals from neighboring States to Ogun State and has put measures in place to flush them out of their hideouts within the state particularly at boundary towns which include Ogijo, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu Igbo, Isheri, Akute Ajuwon, Otta, etc.
The operation, which was led by the Divisional Police Officer in Ogijo, was aimed at flushing the criminals out of there hideouts and in Ogun State so that they will not have any conducive environment to operate. These strategies of raid, intelligence gathering and rigorous patrol have paid off and the command will not relent in its efforts to sustain such.
The suspects arrested included Yusuf Olatunji m, Jamiu Babatunde, m, and Tunde Ajasa, m. They were arrested in their hideout at Gbaga Eriyo Ogijo with one locally made pistol, live cartridges, knifes, cutlasses, bags of weeds suspected to be India hemp, various mobile phones and assorted charms.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali has commended the DPO Ogijo for his good initiatives and achievements. He has however challenged other DPOs to re-engineer these strategies in order to make their areas safe. He emphasized on constant raid of black spots and promised to continue to encourage his officers and men to fight crimes in Ogun State.
The police boss has ordered that the suspects, who are presently assisting the police with useful information, be handed over to the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ogun State for further investigation.
