Volleyball Federation Throws Trial Open For Senior Male Team Players Selection
Days after the conclusion of trials for female teams as well as male U-17 team, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) is scheduling trials for male U-21, aimed at selecting players for the senior national team.
From a letter dated July 27, 2017, addressed to directors of sports for all the 36 states of the federation as well as Abuja, which newsmen got a copy of on Sunday morning, the trial is billed to hold in Kaduna from August 24 to 30, 2017.
The letter which was signed by NVBF Secretary General, Maikano Alhaji Adamu, and also addressed to directors of sports for military/para military formations as well as tertiary institutions, informed that players that will represent Nigeria at the Africa Nation Cup coming up in Cairo.
“With reference to the above subject matter, I am directed to invite all the states/military and paramilitary volleyball associations and clubs to attend and participate at the National Conventional Men’s Volleyball Open trials to enable the technical committee of the federation select its national team that would represent the country at the forthcoming Africa Nation Cup Cairo Egypt October 20 to 30 2017/World Championship 2018 Men Volleyball Championship,” the letter stated.
“In view of this, the federation will appreciate if all the associations/clubs attend and participate to exhibit talents for the federation to select and have a vibrant national team that can make the country proud in Africa and the world,” it added.
The letter informed that arrival and technical meeting is August 24, while noting that the federation will make arrangement for accommodation, but advised the states and organizations fielding players that they are responsible to take care of their players, coaches and accompanying referees.
It also stated that those selected will go into camp immediately.
