Unuanel drums support for Super Eagles
Head Coach, Kwara United FC of Ilorin, Samson Unuanel, on Monday said he believed the Super Eagles would not be at the World Cup to complete the number of teams.
Unuanel told newsmen after his team’s training session on Tuesday at the Kwara Stadium that the Eagles would surpass their previous records at the Mundial in Brazil.
According to him, we have a good team and we are growing.
“You need to check the records, nobody gave the Eagles a chance to win the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and they eventually did it in style,” he said.
He said that with the support and prayers of Nigerians, the team would perform well in Brazil, even as he urged the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) to play their part well.
“Let the NFA play their part well in Brazil and ensure that the Federal Government released money as and when due. You will see wonders from the team in Brazil,” he said.
On the selection of players, Unuanel said Keshi, who had been working with the team, knows the players because he had worked with them during friendly matches and the qualifiers.
“He has every right to pick his team. We should believe in him.
“We have given him the opportunity from the beginning. This is no time for distractions with unnecessary insinuations,” the coach said.
The Eagles never went beyond the second round in previous outings at the World Cup.
Nigeria will play in Group F alongside, Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina in the preliminaries of the competition.
