United Nations humanitarian day: Gani Adams Foundation gives out items to less privileged

Gani Adams Foundation Wednesday gave out items worth millions of Naira to various groups and organizations as well as the less privileged in the society to mark the 2015 United Nations World Humanitarian day. The event which was held at the Osun hall of the Airport Hotel Ikeja had in attendance Royal fathers, Representatives of orphanage homes, Boys Scout, Girls Guide and notable Nollywood actors and actresses.
Speaking at the event, the founder, Otunba Gani Adams, who is also the National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC , said the purpose of the foundation was to provide succor for the less privileged.
He said “In fulfillment and realization of our set objectives, the Gani Adams Foundation in recent times, has visited at different times the SOS children village at Isolo, Lagos; Lagos State chapter of Nigerian Red Cross Society; Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care at Akoka, Lagos and Little Saints Orphanage home, Palmgrove, Lagos where we donated several gift items and essentially needed items to ameliorate the suffering of orphans and people in need.
“We have also visited institutions like the Pascelli School of Blind at Surulere, Lagos and Federal Nigerian Society for the Blind, Oshodi, Lagos to comfort the visually impaired.”
Adams said the intervention of the Foundation was not limited to visits but also instituted skill acquisition programmes for youth and other economically vulnerable members of the society. He added that the foundation would give 40 young people vocational training within the next one month. He also said about 200 widows have been empowered with cash donations to start businesses of their choice to earn a living .
The guest speaker, Alfred Akpavirie Aggrey-Fynn, a Professor of Economic Development Program at the Houdegbe North America University, Republic of Benin, said Nigeria is a rich Nation whose citizens had no business suffering. He said the Federal Government should get its priorities right and create wealth for the masses.
Various items were given out to homes, associations and the less privileged such as the aged, the blind and the special people. Racheal Oniga, Segun Arinze, Bassey Ekpeyong, Ngozi Orji, Liz Anjorin, Chico Ejiro and Baba Tee were some of the Nollywood practitioners at the event.
