The Governing Council of the University of Abuja on Monday ordered the institution shut down until further notice.

The students according to report have been protesting to compel the lecturers who are on strike over unpaid allowances to go back to work so that they could finish their examinations.

A notice to the effect has been placed on the boards of all the departments and hostels, asking the students to vacate the school.
