UN lauds Ajimobi on security, health care delivery

The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Dr. Dauda Toure has commended the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for his administration’s outstanding achievements in the provision of security and health care delivery in the state.

Dr. Toure gave the commendation when he led a delegation of the United Nations on a courtesy visit to the governor in his office in Ibadan at the weekend.

He particularly expressed satisfaction over the several projects being executed by the Ajimobi administration which, he said, were targeted at ensuring better life for the people of the state.

“The United Nations is highly impressed by the commitment of Governor Ajimobi towards the rapid development of the state and his efforts to better the lots of the people through his administration’s transformation and repositioning agenda,” the UN Chief remarked.

He expressed the readiness of some major segments of the United Nations to collaborate with the state government in ensuring the rapid socio-economic development of the state.

Specifically, Dr. Toure said that the UN would partner the sate government in the areas of health care delivery system, education, agriculture, youth empowerment and industrial park.

Also speaking, the World Health Organization Coordinator, Dr. Pui Cranna Vaz called on the state government to provide adequate support for the polio laboratory located within the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

He also called on the state government to continue with the routine immunization in the state in order to reduce polio to zero level in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi commended the initiative of the UN in rendering assistance to the sate government in its developmental effort for the benefit of the people.

He called for the organization’s support in the areas of preventive health care through the provision of necessary equipment for the existing hospitals, large scale agricultural production to ensure food security and youth empowerment with emphasis on skill acquisition.
