UAE 2013: Golden Eaglets Lock Horns With Iran in the Round of 16
Nigeria U-17 team will play Islamic Republic of Iran in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA Under-17 World Cup on Tuesday October 29 in Al Ain United Arab Emirate.
Nigeria crushed defending champions Mexico 6-1 in their opening group match at the same venue for Tuesday’s battle for a quarter-final ticket, before sharing the spoils with Sweden in a match which ended 3-3.
The Golden Eaglets then moved to Dubai for their 5-0 trouncing of Iraq yesterday (Friday) to book a place in the second round of the FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria finished top of Group F with seven points, while Iran ended Group E preliminary round runners-up with five point.

Nigeria have won the tournament on three different occasions and are seeking for a record fourth triumph. Brazil are the only other nation to have won the U-17 tournament thrice.
All African representatives have reached the knockout round with Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire set for a replay of April’s semi-final clash at the African Youth Championship (AYC) in the knockout stage of the FIFA tournament.
Tunisia will play Argentina, while Group F runners-up Sweden face Japan.
