Two Clarkson Students Dead After Stabbing in Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. — Two Clarkson students are dead after an assault in Potsdam, ‎tvc news has reported.

According to the report, State police were called to the Swan Landing Apartment Complex just before 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon for an assault.

When they arrived, they found a man on top of a woman, stabbing both her and himself. He refused to drop his weapon, and police shot and killed him.

The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The district attorney says the police investigation will continue and her office will see if police acted appropriately.

“We are applying for and obtaining a search warrant for the premisis because of the nature of the incident and the criminal activity that was involved,” said State Police Captain Robert LaFountain.

“We want an independent body like the grand jury to review it to ensure that is was fully and thourougly investigated by the police,” said St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain.

The investigation has been turned over to state police, who say this case will likely be investigated through the weekend.
