The Nigerian Trade Union Congress has urged Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to make sure his administration fights against corruption in the Civil service and addresses the plight of workers in the country.

The Chairman of The Congress in Anambra state, Ifeanyi Okechukwu , said this in an interview on Wednesday, stating that the civil service must be rid of corruption and workers’ welfare prioritised.

He said: “Knowing Buhari as a disciplinarian, I believe he will use his wealth of experience in solving the minimum wage issue which the Federal Government has asked states to discuss with their respective workforce.

“Buhari should make it holistic in nature by withdrawing workers salaries from source before it gets to the states that refuse to pay, for it is no longer minimum wage if it is for states to go and discuss leaving us at the mercy of some impious governors.”
