Trial of Ex-Militant’s Alleged killers Resumes in Port Harcourt

The hearing of the case involving the murder of ex-militant leader, Soboma George, has resumed in a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

Ex-militant Soboma George was murdered in Port Harcourt in 2010 by unknown gunmen. Police, however, have charged three suspects; Dombra Ogbe, Emmanuel Glatle and Pere with murder.

During cross-examination, the 1st accused person, Dombra claimed that his life was in danger as a prison official at the Umuahia prison he was being held in, had poisoned his food twice in order to take his life.

The 2nd accused person, Glatle told the court he was never part of the gang that murdered the ex-militant,saying he was severely tortured by men of the police that arrested him and that they made him sign a document under duress that confirmed his involvement in the killing.

The Presiding judge, Justice Godspower Aguma advised counsels to the accused persons to ensure the safety of their clients in their various prisons. He then, adjourned the trial till November 20, 2013.
