Former Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood has revealed he almost became Crystal Palace’s new manager.

The 45-year-old, who was interviewed by Palace chairman, Steve Parish last Sunday said he would have taken the job at Crystal Palace if it had been offered to him immediately after his interview but now, he is no longer interested.

The former England midfielder spent only six months as Spurs boss before his sack and he thought former Cardiff boss, Malky Mackay would be appointed. Crystal Place has now withdrawn their interest in him after he was discovered to have sent offensive text messages suggesting racism, sexism and Anti-semitism.

Sherwood has refused the job offer, saying: “I know a lot of managers were interested. But at some point, you want to know the interviews have stopped and you’re the club’s first choice.

“That’s why, on Thursday, my agent sent a message to Steve to say I was no longer interested in being in contention for the job. If I had been offered the job early, I would have taken it.”
